Help Athina raise money

My name is Athina Merckx and I was diagnosed with Desmoid Fibromatosis in my right knee in 2019. Ever since my diagnosis my family and I have been spreading awareness and raising funds to find a cure. 

Throughout this journey I have tried many different treatments. There are different chemotherapies that are recommended, cryoablation, surgery for some. The reality of this disease is there is no right answer. Every doctor will tell you that we are just trying to manage the symptoms and improve your quality of life. As a patient this is positive in some aspects as my life is not threatened. However, as a human being it is difficult to comprehend that for the rest of my life I will need to manage this disease. 

While I have been diagnosed now for 7 years I still feel like I know nothing about this disease. This disease is under-researched and has no cure. Spreading awareness and raising funds can durastically change so many peoples lives. Throughout the years the support I have felt from my community has been tremendous. We have nearly raised $400,000 and I couldn't be more grateful and proud of our community. I appreciate you taking the time to read about my story, and I hope you choose to be support us in any way you can.
